The weekend of January 17th, 11 Omegans ventured to Seattle for the District Leadership Conference hosted by the Brothers at the Gamma chapter (UW). After events like the giant Twister, there were leadership workshops put on by the District Counselor and Governor about the "8 steps of Change," followed by officer breakout sessions for officers from different chapters to share ideas, as well as plenty of fun times with chapter mascots.

This morning the E-Boards jump-started the semester with a couple pow wows. (Hi, Kelly! ...Is that one word or two? Or should there be a hyphen or something? Thanks, Bro!--maybe you can be my brotherhood example for a couple bios this semester;) KKPsi met at eleven then had a short Chipotal run leading into their joint meeting. 2nd Degree
posted by Luke Johnson on 2008-11-04
The Omega chapter had our second degree on October 9th. Eight prospective members experienced the ritual, which was followed by a joint ceremony that seeks to promote deeper bonds between the Brothers and Sisters Omega. The degrees were followed by dinner at Fuddruckers.
Walkabout
posted by Luke Johnson on 2008-11-04
On October 23rd, KKPsi Omega chapter had what we call “Walkabout.” The Brothers go to different stations around campus, and everyone has a chance to walk and talk with the Prospectives individually about any issues or concerns. Hoping to get any problems worked out earlier in the process, Walkabout was held slightly earlier in semester than in recent years.
Homecoming
posted by Luke Johnson on 2008-11-04
October 25th was the University of Arizona’s Homecoming, which brought plenty of band and fraternity alumni around. This was especially exciting for the Prospective class who got the chance to learn about both the band and Omega at different points in history. Make sure to check out the pictures here.
Sunrise
posted by Luke Johnson on 2008-11-04
As a bonding experience, one of the active members traditionally asks the Prospective members to join him or her in watching the sun rise on top of a parking garage on campus. Doing things that usual college kids wouldn’t do, such as waking up and watching the sunrise the morning after a football game, gives the Prospectives a hint at what striving for the highest is about.
Pumpkin Palooza
posted by Luke Johnson on 2008-11-04
Every year, Omegans take a visit out to the Buckelew Farm pumpkin patch. In recent years the event has been mostly Sisters, but some Brothers went this year to join in on the fun. One of the Prospective members carved his pumpkin to look like the band director.
Alumni BBQ
posted by Luke Johnson on 2008-11-04

Pride of Arizona @ Salvation Army
posted by Steven Boyles on 2008-10-20
The joint Omegas, along with a few of our friends in the POA, played for a crowd of about 40 children at the Salvation Army's after school program. In addition to bringing spirit to the kids with songs like "Bear Down Arizona" we also entertained with the theme from Spongebob Squarepants. After the performance, we held an instrument petting zoo, taught basic marching commands and techniques, and allowed the kids to try on our uniforms. Overall the event was as rewarding for us as it was fun for them. Pictures to follow soon!
Congratulations to Gameball Naff!
posted by Zach Sanchez on 2008-10-10
After last week's game against University of Washington, Brother Kristi "DOT" Naff was awarded the Gameball by Prof. Rees. After the convincing win against the Huskies, the Brothers from the Gamma Chapter joined us for a fun filled night of board games!
Suncon Marching Festival
posted by Luke Johnson on 2008-09-30
This weekend Brothers and Sisters of the joint Omegas helped out at a local high school marching festival. Our activities included running the first aid and bake sale tents, providing cool water for the marchers, and thanks to the numerous band parents(remember those?), we did a lot of walking around. Six high schools competed and had clinics with the University of Arizona's very own marching band director, Jay Rees. Many of the bands had Omega alumni on staff, showing our chapters' post-graduation dedication to music.
Music Fresh Start Program
posted by Luke Johnson on 2008-09-30
On August 31, the joint Omega chapters paired up with local Instrumental Music Center to put on the Music Fresh Start Program. Brothers and Sisters provided fun, crash-course lessons on instruments to 5th graders who were new to band and playing instruments. While some Omegans were apprehensive about being in a small room with even smaller children for an hour, the time flew by while showing how to play, clean, and care for instruments. One of these kids may well turn out to be an Omegan some years in the future. See the pictures here.

Band Camp 2008
posted by Luke Johnson on 2008-08-24
Another exciting week of 14-hour days, sunscreen, sweat, and emergency crews can only mean that the Pride of Arizona's band camp has come to an end.
Brothers and Sisters of the Joint Omegas joined together throughout the week to ensure that band camp ran smoothly. Our activities included running registration, fitting and handing out uniforms, and bringing snacks such as Otter Pops and muffins to the band. Surely Omegans could be found contributing in smaller ways, such as providing enthusiasm and intensity when needed, as well as making sure everyone is having a good time.

Omega History Day
posted by Zach Sanchez on 2007-04-29
Today we went through mountains of historic materials obtained by Brothers of the Omega Chapter over the years. Alumni and Active alike pitched in for the monumental task of organizing and electronically documenting all of our archives. The feat has yet to be finished, but we have built the foundations to get this project rolling! After almost 80 years of "activeness" we have accumulated more than a day's worth of work.
Special thanks to Dave and Mary Elder for opening up their home to the Brothers for this event!
